Thanks for asking. The kids should wear comfortable clothes, with sweats or shorts being the best choice. No lunch/supper needed. Kids from schools that have to travel are on their own, but FVL kids can eat a nice lunch at home and then a warm supper after rehearsal!

Thanks for sending us a message Kari! I remember the Lake Band very well. In fact, one of our former instructors marched with the Lake Band back in the 70's. We miss seeing the great Milwaukee area bands as well. As far as Lutheran Vanguard, we have been around since 1978. We have had several uniform changes over the years, as well as a name change. In 1989, we were still known as the "Fox River Valley Lutheran Youth Band" and changed our name to the current Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin (LVW) in 1990. We have also been to Oregon and Sun Prairie numerous times over the years, including both last year and Oregon this year.

Glad to hear about your son! Please thank him for his service. I also have a son serving our country - he is a Sergeant in the US Army.

    James Neujahr, LVW Executive Director.
PS. Today, most of us have nice air mattresses - the floors are still hard!

I was very involved in the late 80s and 90s with a WI band. I saw your band for the 1st time today on TV marching in the Circus Parade. Has your band been around for a long time? Ive been to Sun Prairie, Oregon and many local places when our son marched with Lake Band(folded 5 years ago) I dont ever remember hearing of your band until today.
You should be very proud of yourselves and your band especially nowadays. There arent alot of marching bands around anymore. Sad to say, but Milwaukee does not promote music in the schools much anymore. Most of the public schools in Milwaukee do not have bands.
We gave up a lot of time and weekends for our son. It was the best times of our lives. When I do know how hard you work to learn your music and learn to march in step, it brings back such fun memories (sleeping on gym floors and riding those hot school buses)

Keep on Marching and do your best !!!
    Kari from Milwaukee
    (former Lake band Chaperone)

PS. Our son is still marching...this time with the US Marine Corps. Poor kid has been keeping step since he was 10 years old lol

We are sending everyone home at 7:30. LVW will not be going to the game as a band. There will be no transportation provided to the game. Once we are done with rehearsal, the kids go home or to their host homes. It is up to the individuals whether or not they want to attend the game.

geez, this is just amazing. Definitely the best season of my life. 2nd place got 83.0, and we got 91.0, we definitely had more heart and determination. I'm going to miss this dramatically!
