2009 Cherry Festival T-shirts
We have received information for the 2009 Cherry Festival T-shirt. LVW members may order these if they wish. If you are interested in the shirt, you may view the information HERE.
LVW members and staff are not required to buy the shirt. It is a nice souvenier of the Cherry Festival, since all of the bands who are competing are listed on the back of the shirt.
Notice that the cost of the shirts is $12.00 each, and come in sizes ranging from Small - 4X. We will place an order for these shirts following this next weekend. Please bring the $12.00 with you, and we will collect the money. Checks should be made out to “LVW". If we place our order on Monday, we will most likely be able to pick up our shirts when we arrive in Traverse City.

Nice Weekend for LVW
This past trip to LHS, MN, and Oregon was a very good weekend for LVW. With the rehearsal time put in at LHS, there was much improvement as we once again hit the street for parades (was the last parade before Rochester really the Appleton Flag Day Parade?) It was a real boost for us to perform doing what we do best. Hearing the roar of approval from the parade spectators really makes it all worthwhile! Thanks to all of you who were able to make it to our past parades and cheer us on. Your never-ending support of LVW is invaluable to our members and staff.
In Rochester, LVW took second in our class, which is a very good showing. Minnesota has some of the best parade bands in the entire Midwest, so it was a real treat for us to compete against these strong bands. While this was our first competetive parade of the summer, the bands from Minnesota have marched approximately a dozen already, and are nearing the end of their competetive parade season. It was good for the LVW staff to listen to the adudicator’s comments and use them to improve our overall program.
If you would like to see the complete results from the Osseo parade, they are posted on the Osseo Band Festival website.
LVW garnered a third place finish in Oregon, just a scant one-tenth of a point behind our friends from Lakeside Lutheran HS.

Minnesota and Oregon Information Now Available
Here is the information you have been waiting for! Below are several links with itineraries, parade maps, and so on.
This first link is the most important, and MUST BE READ or printed by every LVW family. It is the itinerary for the upcoming week’s activities, and includes travel information, notes about what to bring, food and meal information, and the like.
If you are attending the parade in Rochester on Friday night, here is a map of the parade route. On it you will notice the location of the judging area, if you would like to sit with fellow LVW groupies and cheer on your favorite band!
Here is all the information you will need for the Osseo Festival of Bands. This info is the same packet that was sent to all of the band directors, so there is WAY more info than most of you will need. However, it is very thorough and covers ALL of the bases. Again, you can see the location of the judging area on the map, as well as great directions to the city of Osseo and the location of the parade.
There is no official map of the Oregon parade route. Oregon is a rather small city, and the parade travels through town on Main Street. If you are attending this parade, the route will not be hard to find. We hope to see you there!

LVW Rehearsal and Dells Week
Hello again. Here are some important announcements for our upcoming week.
Rehearsal notes for Wednesday and Thursday:
1. We will begin rehearsal at 10:00 on Wednesday. PACK YOUR OWN LUNCH FOR WEDNESDAY! All other meals/snacks will be provided.
2. After supper on Wednesday, we will have some free time at Plamann Park. Bring your discs for disc golfing. Plamann has some great courses. You may also go to the swimming lake ($2 charge) or just hang out at the park.
3. Since the FVL Baseball team is playing in the State Baseball Tournament, we will end our activities at 7:30. This will allow everyone to get to the game if you wish. Hosts can determine if your guests would like to go to the game. The game begins at about 8:00 PM and will be held at Fox Cities Stadium (where the T-Rats play).
4. Rehearsal begins at 10:00 on Thursday. Hosts should have the kids to FVL by 9:45.
5. We will be staying at FVL on Thursday night. Make sure you have your OVERNIGHT supplies, such as sleeping bag, towel, personal items, etc.
6. We will be leaving for Noah’s Ark at about 8:00 AM on Friday. Don’t forget to pack your SWIMMING SUIT and towel for the day. We will be taking three buses from FVL on Friday.
LVW will wear our SEASONAL T-SHIRT and nice shorts (not swimsuits!) for the performance. Be sure to pack your shirt. You must also have tennis shoes for the performance, not flip-flops or sandals.
7. Our performance at Noah’s Ark will begin at 11:00 AM. We will play in the vicinity of the main gate.
8. We will provide a lunch for the kids following the performance, and then they are free to enjoy the park until 5:30, when we will meet to leave for supper. We will be eating at the Pizza Pub (meal paid for by the band).
Pizza Pub address (right across the street from Noah’s Ark Waterpark):
1455 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy
Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
(608) 254-7877
9. If you are picking up your kids from the Dells, the Pizza Pub will be the pick-up point. We should be done eating by 7:15 - 7:30.
Contact your school’s transportation coordinator for estimated arrival times at home. The buses will drop off in Fond du Lac (Forest Mall by Kohl’s) at about 8:45, and will arrive in Appleton at FVL at about 9:30.

Map of Appleton
If you are attending the Appleton Flag Day Parade, here is some information that you might find helpful, especially if you have not been to this parade before.
The parade will begin at 2:00 PM. It begins at the corner of Oneida and Wisconsin, and proceeds west on Wisconsin Avenue. It then turns south on State Street, and then east on College Avenue. The parade ends at Lawrence University, and the band will board buses to return to FVL at City Park.
Many of our parents like to sit in the block across the street from Heid Music. There is also a reviewing stand in this block. On the map, it is the block on College Avenue between Durkee and Drew Street. You will easily find the reviewing stand, as it is all decorated in red, white, and blue!

Map of Brillion, WI
Hello Groupies! We are just a few days from our first parade of the year. Follow the link to a map of Brillion, WI, site of the Brillion Electric Parade.
The band will line up in the neighborhood of Heritage Park on the south side of town. The parade travels north on Main Street and ends just short of HWY 10. The parade begins promptly at 9:00 PM. If past years are any indication, and with the recent wet weather, you would be wise to bring along some bug spray.
There is no judging or reviewing area for this parade, so there is not a definite location where our parents sit together. Just look for the people with the LVW clothing!

IMPORTANT Band Camp announcements
The information in the link below is very important for all parents. The students were given this information following the rehearsal this past Saturday. If they misplaced the letter, you can now access this information.
This note includes one additional item that was not in the note sent home with the students. On Friday night, LVW will be staying overnight at FVL. This is different from past years, when the students would go to camp homes following the Brillion parade. Staying at FVL will eliminate the need for hosts to pick up the students at 11:30 in the evening and then return them to FVL early the next morning. We hope that this will be a positive change and will allow everyone to get a good night’s sleep. Because we are staying at FVL, all students will need a sleeping bag and other overnight items. Note that some students who are staying at host homes may not have oringinally planned on bringing a sleeping bag to camp.

1. All students are asked to bring thier own brown-bag supper for Tuesday, June 9. Please bring something healthy, such as a sandwich, fresh fruit/vegetables in addition to chips/dessert items. LVW will provide beverages for the meal.
2. We are asking for 5 families to donate a cooked and boned turkey for Band Camp. If you can assist with this, please contact Tammy Loeck for more details (5loecks@sbcglobal.net or 920-720-0269). The turkey would be needed at FVL by Friday morning.

Food update for Band Camp
Tammy Loeck, Jordan (Tenor) and Emma’s (Flag) mom will again be coordinating the food for this year’s Band Camp! That is great news for all of us that were here last year to eat the delicious (and healthy) meals.
We are asking all non-FVL Vanguard members to bring a pan of bars or three (3) dozen cookies to Band Camp when you arrive on Tuesday, June 9. Please bring them in a non-returnable container. These desserts will be used for each of our meals so that we can keep cost down and calories up!
Keep an eye on this page for many updates as we get closer to Camp.
