Hello LVW! Last night (August 19) the LVW Board of Directors met at Mr. Wendland’s house in Jackson for a wonderful “pot luck” and meeting. Great times were had by all in attendance. We had lively discussion about many topics, including our upcoming tour to the New England area (Rhode Island, Massachusettes, etc).
We also made a decision to try something next summer that we have been “kicking around” for many years. LVW will be joining the MACBDA circuit next summer in the “Novice” class. WHAT??????? That means we will be doing a field show!! In the novice class, the requirements are that we do a minimum of a show that lasts four minutes in length. We envision doing a show longer than that, but may not be a full eleven minute show.
LVW will still do parades. Our schedule, yet to be determined, would include a rehearsal schedule much like we have done the past few years. We are not changing that aspect. We would still do our traditional parades, with visual and a modified drill. At the same time we will be working on our field show. All of the staff are very excited about this new venture. We anticipate doing about three or four field shows, such as Oregon, in the later part of June before we head east on our tour. Then, on the way home, we would like to march in the Friday night show at Traverse City.
Mr. Reichardt, who has been involved with the Racine band for the past few years, is very confident that with our membership and our commitment to excellence, we can put a very strong show on the field. We have also had much encouragement from the MACBDA community to go on the field. That will happen in 2010.
There will be future posts regarding our plan to go on the field next year. Until then, get excited, and spread the word!!! Recruit, recruit, RECRUIT!!!!
Talk to you soon.
