Calling all LVW Members, Parents, Family, and Groupies! The picnic is Sunday, August 1, at FVL. Here are some long-awaited details:

Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Church Service: 11:00 AM
Picnic Lunch: Following Church

Pastor Sievert from St. Peter’s, Freedom, will be our guest preacher. The service will be held on the Patio at FVL. In case of bad weather, we will move the service to the auditorium. Bring your own lawn chairs/blankets for the service. We would like the LVW choir to sing “The Spacious Firmament on High". The choir and the entire gathering will join in the Doxology at the close of the service.

As for lunch, bring your own food/beverage. The commons will be open, but you can also eat on the patio. There is limited picnic table space on the patio and outdoor canteen, so you may want to bring picnic tables/chairs for lunch.

Following lunch, you can hang around at FVL, talk to fellow groupies, or go to Plamann Park for some hiking or disc golf. There is also a man-made lake at the park if you so desire.

HERE is a link to Plamann County Park. On this site you can see a map of the park and what it has to offer.

Tom and Rhonda Dietzler will also have the LVW Store open for business! There are some clothing items yet in stock, as well as other LVW merchandise.

Hope to see you there!

I received the following email following our parade in Manchester-By-The-Sea. Thought you might like to see it!

Mr. Neujahr,

Our family has been gathering at our “homestead” in Manchester-By-The-Sea for 50 years of July 4ths. Please share this email with all of your directors and youth.

Your ensemble was THE BEST performance I have ever seen in those 50 years of parades. I believe I speak for my whole family, too.

I have watched band competitions on TV occasionally, but have never been to one and never expected to see anything like your troupe in a parade.

Congratulations on your performance, stamina and musical ability.

You were AWESOME!

Thank you,

Sandy & Skip

This is one of MANY compliments our kids and adults received while on our recent tour. It makes me so proud of our kids when restaurant managers, school staff at our housing facilities, and parade officials go out of their way to tell us what a fantastic bunch of well-behaved youth we have! What is especially meaningful is that we don’t tell our kids to act in a specific way. It is simply something that they do because of WHO they are. Thanks kids! To God alone be the glory!

We are now traveling on the NY Toll-way, AKA I-90. Later this afternoon we will arrive at Coakley Middle School in Norwood, MA, which will be our “home” for the next four days. It is sunny and comfortable today - a great day for travel!

Yesterday (Thursday) we arrived at Perry HS around 12:00 PM. After unloading the buses, the kids had about an hour and a half of “sleep” before we got up, had a chance for some needed showers, had lunch, and then rehearsal. We rehearsed in the Perry HS stadium for a few hours in the afternoon, and then again after supper until 9:00 PM. As the title above suggests, this was a magnificent facility, the weather was absolutely ideal, and the kids were focused on improving their 2010 show. All of that made for our best rehearsal day of the year! Following rehearsal last night, we watched the video of the Whitewater show, followed by the video of our final “run through” of the day. The staff felt that, were this rehearsal done in uniform and in front of an audience, it would have been our best performance of the year to date.

I have posted a few pictures on the Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin Facebook page. Pictures are posted from the Whitewater show, as well as some of our rehearsal at Perry HS. Simply go back to the homepage of this website, and click on the Facebook link.
